winging it

I just celebrated my 30th birthday. In the past decade I have been living my best life – all because I’ve been following my life motto of “just wing it”.

Traveling, starting a family, moving away, starting new jobs and life endeavors, making big purchases – I’ve followed my heart and chased my dreams.

The best thing about “winging it” is that even the poor choices or choices that don’t work out-lead to some pretty amazing life lessons and personal growth.

I’ve tried to put fear on the back burner because for some time, I was letting fear hold me back – and I didn’t want to live like that.

“Winging it” (to me) has a lot to do with making intuitive choices – stop thinking about all of the things that could to wrong. Yes, do your research, execute basic planning, and consult people you trust but ultimately go with your gut.

One of the most life changing decision that I have made in the past decade with my husband (then boyfriend) was to move to Nashville, TN.

We had both just graduated from college, we didn’t have jobs or much money saved up but we wanted an adventure. Being from Wisconsin and Minnesota (Nick), we also wanted some warmer weather! We didn’t necessarily know where we wanted to go but Nashville was only a day-drive away and Nick had a couple leads for work in a town just outside of Nashville. We had the mindset that we could always move back home if things didn’t work out.

Well, after almost 7 years later + our Nashville wedding, 2 kids, 2 dogs, 2 purchased homes, a few different jobs, hundreds of visitors and a million memories …we still are in love with Nashville. Luckily, more family members followed us down south and we are also blessed to have family and friends who visit us regularly. Not a month goes by where someone isn’t staying a few nights in our guest room – and we love that!

The moral of the story is: live your best life- you’ve only got one on this earth…with no instruction manual so, just wing it!
